Noisekiller acoustic blankets subdue even the noisiest of engines. The results are amazing!
Not only is noise reduced on deck and in the cabins, dockside observers often comment on how quiet the boat is once fitted with these blankets.
Clients with a £700,000+ boat we recently fitted with these blankets called us straight back when they heard the results - to fit another to their generator!
So what are they?
The blankets are manufactured using a sheet of lead sandwiched inside two layers of class "O" open cell acoustic foam and covered with Fortaglas.
Fortaglas is a durable, wipe clean, high heat resistance fabric. The lead layer acts as a block to the sound, especially low frequency diesel noise. The foam absorbs airborne sounds.
For larger engines the whole thing is draped over a stainless steel frame, for smaller engines the blanket sits directly on the engine, or for generators we drape over the outside of the cover.
What about engine servicing?
The blankets are provided with Velcro closed flaps to all the main service points for easy, daily access.
The whole blanket can be removed in seconds for more major work.
What about heat?
As marine engines are water cooled from the sea or river, little cooling occurs from the engine room air, and the running temperatures of the engines are not affected in any material way.
